News: Next Commission Meeting at the 111th ASA Annual Meeting in Seattle, WA, August 2016

CAPACS Informational Display Table at ASA:

The American Sociological Association (ASA) has confirmed table space for the Commission to display its materials at the ASA Annual Meeting in Seattle. CAPACS has been assigned to Table 4, located in Hall 4B on the fourth floor at the Washington State Convention Center (800 Convention Place Seattle, WA 98101-2350 Phone: 206-694-5000). The display tables will be in place by 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 20th 2016.

Please use SignUpGenius to volunteer a date and time to staff the table, and answer visitors' inquiries about the Commission and its programs. Please enter times, in increments of one hour or more, on days and dates when you will be available to monitor the Commissions' display table.

CAPACS is pleased to welcome Dr. Tina Uys (Professor and Past Chair, Department of Sociology; University of Johannesburg; Johannesburg, SA). Dr. Uys’ term commenced on January 1st 2016.

CAPACS is pleased to announce that Dr. Miriam Boeri (Associate Professor, Sociology; Bentley University; Boston, MA) was elected by the CAPACS Board in February to serve as CAPACS Secretary.  The Commission extends its appreciation to Dr. Sheila Katz (Assistant Professor, Sociology; University of Houston; Houston, TX) for her excellent service as CAPACS Secretary, and her work as Section Chair for Applied, Clinical, and Public Sociology for the Pacific Sociological Association.
